Expository Text

(Subject: A Discourse Approach in Reading)




           Yesterday, I learnt about Expository Text with Dr. Usa. 

For expository text is written to inform the reader about a 

specific object. Generally speaking, expository text contains an 

explicit or implicit topic sentence with the main idea and the 

supporting ideas. I think the expository text is very difficult. 

Moreover, vocabulary and text are difficult too. Then, teacher 

describe about expository text, it makes me know meaning and

using expository text. Next, I and my friends do exercise about 

the Internet and Society, How to cope with Insomnia and 

answer the question about them. This exercise it makes me 

jumble and serious but I try to learn more and more from 

teacher, friends and myself too.

My feeling

I feel enjoy and happy every time when I learn with Dr.Usa 

Noytim but I nervous and serious when I do exercise many item

because I think the exercise is difficult for me.

To teacher

I think teacher taught students very good. I can understand the 

matter in learning easy when she taught me. I get more 

knowledge and good experience from her. I think I can bring 

knowledge apply in teaching of me in the future too.

Problem and Solution

(Subject: A Discourse Approach in Reading)





        Last Monday, I learnt about Problem and Solution. I think 

this matter is very difficult and it makes me confuse but I try to 

understand them from my friend and teacher. So, Problem and 

Solution is a pattern of organization where information in a 

passage expressed as a dilemma or concerning issue (a problem) 

and something that was, can be, or should be done remedy this

issue (solution or attempted solution). When I learnt them, it

makes me know about problem markers and solution markers 

and I can observe them in the passage. Last, I made exercise 

many passage. I can found problem markers and solution 

markers and circle them in the passage but some word I confuse.

I read the passages, write a sentence explaining the main idea, 

write main idea and create diagram. I think, I can applied this 

subject in other subject and the future.

Exemplification

(Subject: A Discourse Approach in Reading)



         Last Sunday, I learnt about Definition and Classification 

again because teacher answers the exercise. Then, I learnt about 

Exemplification. Exemplification writing uses specific, vivid 

example for the purpose of adding more information to explain, 

persuade, define, or illustrate a general idea. Then, I made 

exercise, answer the question, made diagram, match texts and 

put answer in the blank about the matter of College Students’ 

Pressures, Fun things to do in Great Falls, Many hazard in the 

home and what is language?. In my point of view, it is difficult 

for me. Some paragraph I don’t understand but I feel good when

I learn with Dr. Usa. Finally, my friends will presentation about 

food. My friend’s food it is wonderful, interesting and delicious. 

I happy and enjoy in this class too. ^__^

Definition and Classification

         Last Monday, I learnt about Definition and Classification. 

In my point view, this the matter is difficult but it is interesting 

for me. I think my friend taught with me. When I do the 

exercise, I confuse some item but I can do exercise easy because 

it has word of definition markers and classification markers, 

for example; to be, to define, i.e., in other word, type, section, 

to divide, to distinguish, kind, category, and so on. I think when

learn this subject I can apply in learning other subject and the 

future too.

Fruit Salad



   Ingredients
     lemon                       2 bananas
     ½ cup strawberries       2 oranges    
     ► ½ cup grapes             ► Orange   Juice
     2 red apples              ► 1 kiwi
     ► 1/2 cup yogurt           Honey
     Cantaloupe

   Six Steps to Make Fruit Salad

1.  Choose your fruits. For this simple fruit salad, you'll need    
      strawberries, banana, grapes, red apple, cantaloupe, oranges
      and kiwi.
                
2.  Wash all of your fruits.It's important to wash all of your fruits before cut them into a salad.

3.  Chop the strawberries,banana,orange,grapes red apple,cantaloupe and kiwi into bite-size pieces on a cutting board and dice them into bite-sized pieces.

4.  Pour the chopped ingredients of the simple fruit salad into the bowl. Allow them to soak in the orange juice for at least five minutes.

5.  Make the dressing salad. Combine the 1/2 cup of plain yogurt, 2 tbsp. of honey, and1 tsp. of grate lemon peel together in a small bowl.

6.  Pour the orange juice from the fruit bowl and place them in a bowl. Then,add the dressing salad and stir well.Finish!!

Cause and Effect

(Subject: A Discourse Approach in Reading)



          Yesterday, I learnt about cause and effect. I think, I was 

confuse about cause and effect because it is difficult for me. I 

read text example and made exercise about students to chew 

gum in the class and I wrote cause and effect in this the matter. 

Next, learnt about cause and effect markers; for example, if it 

is nouns,connection, factor, result, reason, effect, cause and so 

on. Next, I circle the cause and effect markers, highlight each 

cause and mark it with C and underline each effect and mark 

it with E. Then, I read text about The Effects of stress and 

answer the question. I think this the matter, I can make it easy 

and I understand this exercise. Last, I saw my friend presentation 

about food and it is very interesting. I and my friend also 

presentation last group about fruits salad.
